March 12, 2014 - April 18, 2014 Exhibition Reception: March 12, 2014 7PM Current Exhibition: 27th Annual Solo Mujeres Show: HOME / inside out Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts 2868 Mission St. San Francisco, CA 94110 A home is a place that is close to our heart, it triggers self-reflection, thoughts about who someone is or used to be or who they might become. Each room or space is connected to memories, feelings, ideas, dreams, etc. This exhibition invites established and emerging Latina (preferably but not exclusive) female artists to explore through installation the symbolic spaces of home: living room/dining room, kitchen/pantry, bedrooms, bathroom, laundry, patio and balcony. The gallery will be transformed into a house which rooms will be delimited by see through fabric to show the fragility of housing in The San Francisco’s Mission District. Curated by Susana Aragon & Indira Urrutia. 24 women artists explore the symbolic space of home, through installation, painting, photography, sculpture, poetry, video and mixed media Self reflection, thoughts memories, feelings, ideas, and dreams are expressed in this interdisciplinary show.
